Why We Play
My name is Terri Bratton, founder of the Frontotemporal Lobar Degeneration Association (FTLDA). You may have heard that actor Bruce Willis was diagnosed with FTD, bringing national attention to this devastating disease. For my family, this battle has been personal for decades.
I lost my mother to Alzheimer's disease and both my sister, Patsy, and my brother, Michael, to Frontotemporal Dementia in their early 50s.
FTD steals a person's judgment, empathy, personality, and ability to connect with loved ones. It slowly erases the very qualities that make someone who they are.
No family should have to endure that heartbreak.
That is why FTLDA exists—to advance research, educate medical professionals, and raise awareness so families receive earlier diagnoses, better treatments, and hope for the future.
